Alphabet Dating C: Candlelit Dining at Fiesta Del Asado

Before Christmas, Will and I were invited down to Argentinian restaurant Fiesta Del Asado to sample their renknowned steak menu. Depsite working literally five minutes away, I had never been down to Fiesta Del Asado but after hearing incredible reviews I spent a wet and windy day in November snacking on crackers all day determined to leave room for the biggest steak I could manage when we headed down later that evening.

The first thing I noticed when I walked through the door was how perfect the atmosphere was for us. It had such a nice combination of feeling really intimate and romantic but still really cosy and chilled out – just the kind of place we like! We were seated in a really cute little table in the corner and Will got straight on to the menu while I had a look around and took some pictures.

The décor is really authentic feeling with candlelight, brick fireplaces and south American art hung in frames all working together to give you the feel of stepping right into a traditional Argentinian house!

After pulling myself away from the beautiful decoration, I joined Will to peruse the menu and attempted to make the very difficult choice of what to have!

To start we decided to share an appetizer and a starter between us (I still had my eyes firmly on leaving room for that steak!) so we went for the Tostadas de pate de chorizo and the Chistorra Artysan, which is spiral sausage flavoured with
smoked paprika and garlic. Both of them were absolutely delicious and packed full of flavour! The chorizo pate was smooth and spicy, perfectly complimented by the bread and the sausage was juicy and tender with an added kick from the paprika and garlic which heightened the already fiery Spanish taste.

Now it was time for the main event and in a very ambitious move, I took the advice of the Fiesta Del Asado Team and decided on the Bife de Angosto, which is a 16oz single muscle taken from the loin. I like my steak quite rare and really juicy and they told me this would be the best choice, oh my goodness were they right! It was hands down the best steak I have ever had. Beautifully cooked and insanely tender it genuinely melted in my mouth! Will opted for the Asado de tira  with a Huevo frito (fried free range egg!) on top and although he likes his steak cooked medium to well done, the meat wasn’t tough or chewy at all. To accompany our steaks we also ordered some of the Papas fritas con perejil y ajo, which are fries with parsley and garlic – seriously yummy!

After tackling our man steaks (I think I probably managed to eat a good 12oz!), I was literally full to burst so we made the executive decision to share the Chocolate Fondant. Okay, okay so it sounds like I am saying everything was the best ever but this was seriously also the best chocolate fondant I had ever had. Teamed with a scoop of vanilla ice cream it was AMAZING.

Both Will and I absolutely loved Fiesta Del Asado. It’s not cheap but for the quality of the food it is really great value and the food is seriously not to be missed! Add this to the cosy, intimate atmosphere that it boasts and you have the best restaurant in Birmingham for a special occasion or a date night. With valentines just around the corner this would be the perfect place to take someone to show your lurrrrrve… as long as you take me too!
